Who We Are
Our Vision
John Lewis was a civil rights activist who famously said to
"Speak up, speak out, get in the way. Get in good trouble, necessary
trouble, and help redeem the soul of America."
We believe this call carries an inherent responsibility to defend democracy and human rights. Democracy is the foundation of freedom, dignity, and progress. The most effective way to protect these principles is through active, strategic nonviolent resistance.
Newly started in 2025, the Good Trouble Alliance strives to live up to the ideals set forth by John Lewis as we peacefully and joyfully fight authoritarianism and human rights abuses in America starting here in Springfield, Illinois.
